Oh my g/f watches those [grumbles] movies all the time. Every time I make the comment "Why is that drop-dead gorgous girl a "nerd" just because she has glasses?". And of course in the final scene where she's "suddenly hot" she doesn't have the glasses on.
I mean, learning that beauty is not looking like the head cheerleader is a commendable moral for a story. But not when the "unattractive" girl is just the head cheerleader with glasses. That, and it just further crams Hollywood's version of beauty down the American gullet, which is soo far off (at least in my personal definition) from what beauty really is. Okay I'm starting to sound like a feminist guess I should stop here.
