Central New Zealand.

Banks Peninsula, Lyttleton Harbour and Christchurch bottom left, Golden Bay top left and Marlborough Sounds top centre. At top right is the lower North Island with the mast obscuring about half of Wellington Harbour, with muddy Lake Wairarapa to its right.

The photo was taken on Thursday 14 December 2006. The following link shows more at the top, up to the area where I live at the mouth of the Rangitikei River, and Cape Turnagain (named by Captain James Cook) at far right. Full resolution version from Nasa is well worth the wait for those on dialup for the amazing detail (3032 x 2007 pixels, 1.87 MB): http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/1...19_ys_full.jpg
