I have been told that I have a great singing voice. That is no accident, I have worked very hard at training my voice. When I was about 35, I would answer the phone and people would ask to speak to my mother. I decided to work on training my voice down. It took a lot of years, but I now sing bass, baritone, and tenor. I am equally at home singing Old Man River, or Sherry, by the Four Seasons. I have also worked hard at training my voice to sound like the original singer. So, whether it’s Roy Orbison, Elvis, Jefferson Airplane, Aerosmith, Neil Diamond, Van Morrison, Andy Williams, or Satchmo, I color my voice to sing appropriate to the song.

I guess the lesson here is that if you work hard enough at anything, you can achieve it.
