Thats the problem I have with strikes. A few years ago with the NHL (hockey, for the non-sports fans) had it's infamous strike, and was a prime example. The players didn't want their salaries capped (even though the cap for one year was litterally what I'd make in 10 years). But they had no qualms about going on strike, and putting all the hard working blue-collard people that say, cleaned the arenas or manned the concessions out of work.

But any strike is going to hurt innocents. Sometimes it's unavoidable. I don't know what the situation was/is over at GM, but it certianly could have been one of those situations.
