Time to unrant, pull my foot out of my mouth and state that my wife is going back to work today and won't miss a single shift (although it would have been nice to spend the afternoon with her).

It looks like GM is going to settle

BTW I am in a union myself (teacher's union) and I've been lucky enough to avoid any strikes myself (by one year, whew!). I've been in job action, but not a full strike, which would suck bigtime.

I figure for a teacher's strike (or any other goevernment strike), the government saves money for the duration of the strike, then can use that money to increase wages or whatever.
