I too have had to put aside my interpretation of something (not always astronomy related, though) as new info from others was revealed to me.
I didn't want to believe it either, but in the end, I conceded, knowing I was wrong.

What I've learned is to be humble when others that have more knowledge on a particular subject try to help set the record straight.
