I hadn't read the other thread. My comments were limited to what he had displayed in this thread. I don't withdraw them, because they are still valid for this thread and still reflect my feelings in that context.
Put simply, praise and criticism where each is due gives credibility to both. If you're always the critic or complainer, people normalize to that and stop taking you seriously. If you give both, based on sober observation, then people recognize that each is given thoughtfully and without respect to person. They'll listen to you.
