Not sure what you mean by "worse", but if it has to do with the solar wind,

Really? Interesting that a flux field could develop a "crack". What is the evidence for this? If there is any, it must be somewhere beyond the current condition of the Earth's magnetic field, which is doing its usual drift, and is the same as always.
