Use to be a dummy steel "Apollo command module" mounted outside downtown Grand Rapids Michigan. I think it was used by the Navy and Nasa for ocean recovery practice.

Ah, I'm just tired of the cultural dumbing down we're undergoing. Carl Siegan warned us, George Orwell and Aldous Huxley also. And still the slow slide continues. Even music has turned to crap with naut but Dr. Seuss rhyming and a drum beat. I finally convinced my Mother that John Edwards can't talk to the dead and what does she turn to, Sylvia Brown and the reincarnated sole snatchers from Planet X. But I digress mightily from the topic at hand.

Hats off to those who risked all. John Glenn rode a Red Stone Rocket that had a history of blowing up on the pad every one-in-six launches. The Lunar Lander missions truly harbored the worst possible outcome a lander being crashed or disabled and no rescue possible for survivors. I guess it's inevitable that when we land on Mars, there will be a 'Mars Hoax' to match. Perhaps they already have the 'Mars Hoax' prepackaged and ready to promote, just like the death of Elvis.

Yes, Roger Bruce Chaffee, LC, USN (and Boilermaker) perished while testing the capsule for Apollo 2. The result of drinking too many Boilermaker's before flight. Rumored to have said that TANG tasted like $#@$!
