By the time we had the technological capability of getting there, we would have already been familiar with the Prime Directive. I think caution would rule the day. If there is already technologically advanced intelligent life - attempts at communication would need to be made first. If not - we'd need to establish whether or not to interfere in the development of a non-technological intelligent species. Then the third scenario - no intelligent life - but an abundance of other life. In that case - we're off to the races!
