You are correct that the Mayans could predict some astronomical events, such as lunar eclipses. Anyone with good record keeping, math, and a good calendar can do that. There is absolutely no evidence that they even knew what a galaxy was.

They are not realistic questions, there is no evidence that anything special will happen in 2012. And if you read through any of the threads listed above, you will see the whole concept of a galactic alignment is vague at best.

But, if you have any evidence to the contrary, we would be more than happy to take a look at it.
