The trick with critics is to know where you'll disagree. Richard Roeper likes much dumber comedies than I do, so if he suggests that I will like a Will Ferrell movie, he is wrong. If he suggests that I won't, it must be very bad indeed. I have friends whose opinions I don't trust. Someone whose opinion I usually trust made me watch
Barry Lyndon, which I hated. (It was lovely, but I hated it.) Know your critics, and you know when you can trust them.
