right, mass would be a solution, however with a magnetic shield you can leave it off until you need it.
Also, as far as having a special shielded room to go to, thats fine, but not for a permanent type habitat, you can't shove a hydroponic farm into that type of room, nor for that matter could you have one side of the farm exposed to the sunlight when it's not critical.
Add to this, the requirement for the habitat to spin up for simulated gravity and it starts to get really complex. Anyone have any ideas for this thought experiment?
