Actually... I had a thought that when I posted "No comment" To the OP, some folks might get the wrong idea... SO I figured I needed to post a message about a FEMALE to dispel it
But I think it's probably about equal- and about humor too.
I can relate strongly (and have had many people tell me so) to Anakin Skywalker, or, like my avatar- to Cloud.
And I think that's the point. Characters in stories are supposed to be people we can relate to, admire or even hate.
Gender makes little difference.
And like Mfumbesi pointed out- It normally is not associated with the physical so much as the characteristics of the person involved.
Ever had a crush on someone from a book- not a movie?
And by crush I simply mean that you admire the character.
I think we all do this in varying degrees. It's part of appreciating stories. We relate to characters, admire them, feel what they feel and follow their story with interest.
