I am still wodering about the consequences of a couple different things.

Is it only when the two masses make contact that we get the big release, or is there a GR threshold in which spacetime itself is ripped between them when tidal force gradiant reaches a possible breaking point before the two bodies make actual contact? Spacetime itself generates the GRB in a sense?

I am supposing that it is also true that as masses diverge the systems energy is better conserved with less Kinetic energy, or?
