Don't ignore the competitors to Lego. The best thing that ever happened to Lego was when their patents expired and serious competition entered the field.
Ah, there was some sort of lunar train available from Lego a few years back. You might try the Lego fans websites, or the Lego train websites. The fans usually refer to themselves collectively as 'blockheads'. They have conventions and build wonderful things and have a great time. Legos may be to us like the wheel was in pre-Columbian South America; used for toys, the culture missing the real usefulness of the concept.
