I hope these do turn out to be recovered pieces, and that they can locate more, or even find an impact of a larger piece. There's still hope.
But, I still expect the reported dramatic noise was a sonic boom or booms -- rumbling that observers took to be a large impact. Can't blame them for supposing that. Most people probably don't think of meteors traveling faster than sound.
