The us has arguably some of the best beer in the world ... grant it budwieser is not really beer ( as it contains rice ) ( michelob on the other hand is indeed a beer although not great ) and i think miller contains corn.

But there are beers like those from omegong, hair of the dog, or dogfish head brewing companies that are quite good ...

The best beer in the world is from of course belgium it is called westmalle ... However it is somewhat rare ... in belgium it is 24 e for a case of 24 in NY I have seen this go for $20 a bottle at an upscale belgian restaurant.

I would find it hard to believe that there is a shortage of hops ... hops grows like weeds ... in fact there are certain very strict laws about what hops can be grown in an area ...
