Gnaeus Julius Agricola (AD 40-93), Roman governor of Britain, invaded Caledonia (Scotland) in AD 81. He defeated the Celtic tribes under their leader, Calgacus, at the battle of Mons Graupius (AD 83), in eastern Scotland.
