I always say 'Embrace the Madness'.
Conformity is grossly overrated. And 'sanity' is only conformity of the mind, as dictated by the often-misguided social norms.
If you researched almost any great figure in history you'll find they are all at least borderline loons.
Thinking 'outside the box' often means bucking convention, not just being 'smarter' than others.
Often 'thinking outside the box' IS being 'smarter than others'.
Creative minds, especially, flirt with 'madness' because they access the unconscious brain with greater depth and frequency than the 'others'.
It's been said, though I don't know the scientific merits of it, that creative minds are more prone to psychological disorders. Depression, for instance, often afflicts artists.
Maybe it's because we -- I mean THEY -- spend more time roving the high and dark seas of their own mind...Which I reckon cna be a pretty darn scary place.
