And once the oil is gone; nobody outside the region will care enough to fight over it.
Hard to say what the locals will do in the long run though. Tactical nukes are a real possibility, if for no other reason than I can't see any peaceful way out of the current mess given the deeply entrenched biases.
I believe the more radical elements in the area will use whatever they can get their hands on; which makes it just a matter of time.
