It's called "fantasy", it's not like it's trying to pretend to be a documentary. You'll miss out on a lot of fun movies if you limit yourself to just the ones that are strictly bound by realism.

hey, i like fantasy. the silmarillion is my favourite book.
but when they try and make it serious, in the real world, when there are blue furry people and capes.. nope i can't take it seriously.
don't think i limit myself. i love sci-fi, but it needs to be either rooted in reality and believable, or if it's something not believable in the real world it needs to be taken out of reality (i.e. sci-fi or fantasy). i think the X-Men crosses the line between sci-fi and fantasy to the point where it is doesn't make sense in either genre. so i think it fails in that respect.
that conversation sounds like one i'd have with my own mother.
