A vBulletin user on the Web said the view counts are updated by a background cron (Wikipedia) job, with a frequency set by the administrator, but usually with periods of 30 or 60 minutes. (But, it's possible, but unwise for reason of resources consumed, for an admin to configure for instant updates.)
