Yes, indeed. The Eights were a pretty pathetic bunch. I did get sort of mad at Sharon/Athena for not taking the dying Eight's hand, though. Ironically, I think she, Cylon herself, is going to be one dead set against the alliance with Natalie's rebels. She's going to freak out about Hera's connection with the Sixes.
And there's the other Eight, the original Boomer, who broke with the others and threw in (and down!) with Cavil, breaking the tie. Apparently Boomer has gone anti-human. T_gh (cylons took the 'i' of course) and CapSix is pretty disturbing, but that's nothing compared to Boomer and Cavil. That's just disgusting.

Speaking of evil, Cavil is indeed one evil SOB.
And I am convinced Baltar's redemption and conversion is genuine. Baltar did not choose to be evil. He was just a slimy sleezeball looking out for number one who let a little zipper problem get him trouble. You can argue if that's not really just as bad as conscious choice to go over to the dark side so to speak.
And I think that's the grand irony, the type of thing "higher powers" do to teach lessons. Take that pathetic scoundrel sleezebag and turn him into a force for good. To do that, you have to take them down to rock bottom, let them see how pathetic they really are, and then choose to change. And that has certainly happened to Baltar.
