You must first assume they CAN dump a bunch on us.
That's quite a HAUL!
Just because (under the assumption that they arrive here in an interstellar craft) they can transport themselves doesn't mean they can teleport, or move extremely massive objects very long distances effortlessly.
The energy requirements for that would be magnificent and I can only imagine that they would either have unlimited resources available to them to the point where they can squander it - or - they would need to really really really really hate us.
