I'm not that big on tattoos, but if you're going to get one, I'd suggest drawing out exactly what you want on paper. Way, way back I did 2-D line drawings of a tesseract with colored pencils for some high school project (this was before personal computer days), and they turned out well. Multiple colors helped with visualization and just looked better.
'Course, I don't know what it would look like on skin.
