I'm going to defend the American way. It has
always seemed to me the greater distances that
generally have to be travelled for commerce
in the United States have caused lower petrol
prices. Distances in the UK are much lower
but government still needs those tax revenues.
The historical patterns of transport in
Europe seem to have evolved much canal and
rail movement.
