And man, does it look awesome! (Note video autoplays, with sound and is
really freakin' loud.) They're
not doing a "true-to-form" remake, which is okay, given that Hollywood seems to have lost the ability to do camp. This version appears to be a cross between
Mad Max and
The Running Man (nothing which isn't spelled out in the trailer, so no spoiler). Jason Statham plays Jensen Aimes a NASCAR driver sent to prison for murder. One of the TV networks has created "Death Race" which has the prisoners driving hopped up and
armed cars on a track, whomever survives gets to go free. For reasons not made clear in the trailer (other than some
very nice eye candy), each driver gets a navigator, who is bused in from the women's prison. Looks to be lots of fast cars, hot chicks, automatic weapons fire, and explosions!
