Our galactic orbital motion is roughly toward Cygnus, but the numerous stars that we see massed as the Milky Way are orbiting the same way. We are chasing them but not gaining on them. Even if we were gaining on them, the motion is too slow for us to see any change in one year.
Forget that year 2012 stuff. There has been a lot of hocus pocus, egged on in part by an artifact of the Mayan calendar.
