Geminid Meteor Shower 2008 has arrived, go look tonight!
Hi All,
My backyard Observatory's "NorthEast Video Sky Camera" captured 10 of the brightest Geminid Meteors despite the Very Bright Big Full Moon and some fog and high cirrus clouds
from around Midnight until 3:00am EST this morning(unfortunately we lost power at 3:10am) which shut my PC and video camera system down.
In 3 hours I captured 26 meteors in just this 70 degree portion of the sky from Dayton, Ohio, USA.
The Geminids are definitely arriving and and some really bright ones too!
The Time Stamp is from the brightest Geminid Meteor at top center around -4 mag!
Unfortunately Clouds will hinder my veiw tonight...but hopefully the rest of you will have clear skies to enjoy it when it peaks tonight, between midnight and 4:00am. Saturday Night to Sunday Morning 13th-14th of December.
Remember to block the full moon from your FOV, this will help your viewing contrast on the sky, put a tree or house between the Moon and you have a good chance at seeing some meteors, and good luck!!
