The Claim:

From the article cited in the OP:

Quote:
A noted scientist has just produced proof that the lunar surface was inhabited by intelligent life: a 10-inch angel sculpture embedded in a moon rock.
Quote:
NASA lab workers chipped the angel from one of the rocks brought to Earth by Apollo 11 astronauts 40 years ago, in 1969.

So we are told that a ten inch sculpture was found in a rock that was picked up from the moon by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, during the Apollo 11 mission.

The Evidence:

From the official catalog of the lunar samples returned by Apollo 11, we have a description largest single rock they brought back:

Quote:
Sample I0057 is a subangular, dark grey, vesicular basalt. This sample originally weighed 919gm and measured llxlOx6cm. It was originally
returned in ALSRC #I003 (Bulk Sample Container).

Note the size in the description of Sample 10057: 11 x 10 x 6 centimeters.

That's 4.33 inches by 3.94 inches by 2.36 inches.

Conclusion:

This claim is a crock, prima facie. There's no way anybody is gonna stuff a 10 inch sculpture into a 4 inch rock. The bozos couldn't even bother to pick an Apollo mission that brought home reasonably large rocks. (Apollo 16 brought home the largest moon rock ever. I don't know if that one is even large enough to hold a ten inch angle, nor do I care to research this any further.)

I can't believe we actually encourage people to post this stuff, much less discuss it. But here I am.
