The movie was great fun. But it certainly wasn't anything especially original. It entertained for sure, which means it did its job. But without any follow up, it could easily be forgotten in time.

Even the drekky Trek of the Voyager and Enterprise years was memorable for its sheer drekkiness.

While NuTrek didn't break any molds, it also may fall victim to not being sucky either. I mean everyone remembers Armageddon. Who remembers Deep Impact?
