catching innovative thinkers is a manner of fishing. the science classes are the net used to catch em so they can be channelled into science where they can do the innovative work we need. the bigger the net the more fish. so the more science we expose the children too the more of them will be channelled into working with science.
and quite frankly. it doesn't hurt if the average joe knew a bit more about science either.

I call that a win win proposition.
