SSTO is a needless distraction; for the forseeable future, physics dictates that staged boosters are the practical solution. Putting all your ship's mass into tanks and engines that have to go all the way up into orbit doesn't really serve any useful purpose; making boosters cheaper and more disposable makes more sense considering the limits of chemical fuels...
