I did not have time to read your entire post - my apologies. But the obvious problem with your initial setup is that magnetic fields won't effect an electromagnetic wave or any other energy (almost). A magnetic field will only apply force to a
charged body. An EM wave has no charge and would not be effected by your magnet.
