Well, if you're going for first-Earthling-in-space props, I'd guess that Laika would probably have to tip her hat in turn to various bacteria, protozoans, other microbes, maybe even a few very small insects or mites that probably went up on a Sputnik before her. (I concede that I have no idea how thorough the Soviets were about decontaminating & sterilizing their early satellites, but it seems a good guess to me.)
