moving_target: Every force originates from a body of some kind. When a force acts to accelerate a body, another body implicitly exerts that force. Thus, these cases always involve the interaction of at least two separate bodies. One body acts to exert the impressed accelerative force on the body being accelerated. The body being accelerated, in turn, acts to exert the inertial force that impedes the body causing its acceleration. LAW III, therefore, applies to these cases. Without that impedance, by the way, there would be no energy transfer between the two bodies.

Regarding the moving zero net force and reality of inertial force problems, you have helped me to see why they have been so difficult to accept. I offer my sincere apologies to you and anyone else who has had the same difficulties. After living with my new view on these matters for fourteen years I have taken them for granted. I was mistaken to expect agreement on end results when you could not be aware of the initial ideas on which they were based. When I demonstrate that a body being accelerated is, in a sense, a retransmitter of an inertial force acting on it, I think the problems will be resolved and the reality of inertial force and the moving net zero force will be understood.

Gsquare: Do you do telepathic mind-reading or are you just good at educated guessing? Either way, I will soon present the conclusion you have patiently (sort of) awaited in a separate post titled INERTIA AND ITS SOURCE.
