Hey folks, I'm going to either get a telescope, or steal my dad's from him. So, I was wondering if anyone has any advice for buying a "first telescope", and some places to go to learn to use it. I don't want any of the whistles and bells on it (unless my pop gives me his, in which case I'll be stuck with what it's got). And any star-gazing advice anyone has would be welcome too.
