And if you don't understand a physics text (probable in this case), or think they are all written by the Illuminati/CIA/Elders of Zion/whoever (all but certain in this case), there's no need to hit the books.
Just look out of the window. All I have to do is turn my head ninety degrees and I can see three or four examples of non-parallel shadows caused by uneven ground and/or perspective.
This is the thing that annoys me the most about the woo-woos. Complete ignorance of the way the world works, and complete inability to make the most simple observations.
