I feel your pain. Several times I have called stations to correct some flagrant error, and every time I have been treated as a mere nuisance. But then again, I should expect it. Several years ago I was involved in a study of local television news, and unfortunately we compiled systematic data supporting the common observation that (among other things) local news is all about entertainment. They simply don't care if they make a mistake or mislead people, as long as the ratings stay high.
