Sylas, you're letting Lyndon get to you. I'm sure you meant to say that the wave is transverse here (especially since you then speak about the wave being deflected to the side, which wouldn't be the case for a longitudinal wave, so it looks like a mistake of words rather than one of logic). Perhaps having Lyndon continually saying that you're treating the wave as longitudinal left you with that word on your brain.
