Why 22?

[Edit: I'll accept it. The 11 year cycle is more commonly known but it is not the complete cycle which is what I was after...

The sunspots have white areas on one side during the first 11 years. They shift to the other side on the next 11 years. So, a full cycle of activity is 22 years. IIRC, these white areas are called plyia or something close. It is the latin, I suppose, for "beach".]
