We filmed this on a hotel roof (overlooking a pool) in West Hollywood (the Windham Belage hotel). We could see Griffith Observatory behind us. The drinks were props... well, they were real, but we didn't drink them... well, not until after the shoot, at least. :-) It was cold, too, with a bit of a breeze.
