Maybe so, but then again we could ask them what they were doing in our solar system in the first place.
You would think that if another civilization was observing the Deep Impact probe, that they would have the ability to monitor our transmissions and other space craft? This shouldn't come as some supprise.

I find it hard to imagine that another race of beings capable of interstellar travel would be freaked out by our experiments. If anything the aliens would probably be using this as a historical science project, to compare their early space science to ours.
