What if another civilization found the flyby craft; Analyzed it; then determined that it had fired a projectile? Wouldn't it be determined that we are testing space weapons and that we are a threat?

Maybe so, but then again we could ask them what they were doing in our solar system in the first place.

You would think that if another civilization was observing the Deep Impact probe, that they would have the ability to monitor our transmissions and other space craft? This shouldn't come as some supprise.
I find it hard to imagine that another race of beings capable of interstellar travel would be freaked out by our experiments. If anything the aliens would probably be using this as a historical science project, to compare their early space science to ours.

How much "noise" would they be getting trying to monitor our transmissions. What if they happen to pick various Sci-fi stuff to monitor
instead? I'm sure with no frame of reference there might be a lot of mis-interpretation especially with a fiction/non-fiction mix.
On, the other hand, after the analysys, they might just say "these idiot Earthlings can't even get thier weapons out of thier solar system"
By the way, thanks for the interesting discussion on a totally ridiculous idea.
