Some conspiracists such as Jack White go to great lengths to isolate themselves and their followers from any criticism or genuine expertise. They even threaten critics with legal action -- accusing libel simply for saying things like, "Mr. White doesn't know what he's talking about."
Many conspiracy theorists seem to live in a world entirely of their own devising, with their own set of inference rules and facts. And they seem to vehemently oppose the intrusion of any elements from the real world. Ironically they often characterize themselves as the open-minded ones who see things as they really are.
