In the sprit of
jscotti's image of a dome with lightning, I present an image I took in November 2004 when I was in Australia. It's "The Dish", the Parkes Telescope. We had finished our tour of the observatory, and were driving away when this storm front approached. Given that Australia had been having a drought for
years, this was most welcome (though I wish it could have waited, say, a week so I wouldn't have had to deal with all that rain!). The dish is there, but you have to look for it. To give you a sense of scale, the dish is 64 meters across.
