If you were to cross the event horizon of a black hole, common lore says that you wouldn't even notice. Everyone else would notice, because you would disappear, but you would still be receiving light (information) that is still falling into the horizon. You would only notice when you tried to turn around again, because it would be impossible.

That's an interesting way of looking at it, that there is no difference between the singularity and its event horizon. I don't know about 10 dimensions, but I agree that there shouldn't be a difference (that everything within the horizon is part of the singularity).
