Of course, this method by itself would put serious limits on where this creature could survive in the solar system. Heat loss would have to balance the heat gained from the sun. Too far away from the sun and it would eventually freeze, too close and it would overheat. But then there's the second option of engineering this creature to generate its own heat. Though it might require a strong metabolism and a lot of food. I suppose the creature could do a bit of both, throttling its metabolism depending on how much heat it's absorbing from the sun.
