The page on "The History of Speed Reading" is
UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Maybe they got a little ahead of themselves.
Your speed, KnoSee, sounds just fine to me. The site seems to imply some advantage to burning through text. PSHAW!!
I also think ToSeek should try switching to decaffeinated.
I'm a voracious reader, but I prefer to savor the artistry of a true wordsmith. When I come across a juicy passage....I reread the sucker! Sometimes I even read it aloud, just to allow my ears to appreciate the author's style. Nothing satisfies me more than when I come across something so well-written I don't want other people to read it...I want to
read it to them myself.
Of course, the sample text the site used was the most absolutely uninteresting eight paragraphs this side of an inter-office memo on TPS reports! They should give you some credit just for stickin' it out to the end.
For purely functional reading like that, the simple "first line/last line of each paragraph" trick usually works fine.
